Everything forbidden the rest is obligatory!

The idea for this series came due to the fact, that all around me is regulated and ruled by trillions of laws and rules everywhere. Many rules and laws makes sense, while other are just nonsense or in purposes to make profit. From listen to the people around me, i learned that more and more people getting invisible forced to spend more time with think about rules and how to be conform, than to enjoy their lifes and work on their development.

The traffic signs and rules give us a good example. Don"t you feel distracted in save driving by figure out doing all legal? A stressful yes and the government know that so well. Behind the next corner is the police allready waiting in expectation you did not know or respect the "no turn left" sign in middle of a confusing and crowded junction.

Since it has become a profitable part of the city budget, the politicians develop scientific creativity in creating new rules and catalogs of fines. It goes into the thre digits of millions in switzerland, which they can earn and squeeze it out of the people. Exactely the same mechanism is used by the industries world wide, marketing and advertisers use the obeyend and devote customers to get lost in how to"s and complicated price plans. People really spend a lot of time with decoding all this stuff and they get used to and some are well trained in that.

The young generation of today know in excellence how to get the cheapest mobile flatrate and when is time to change provider, how to get out the maximun on eBay, AirBNB, Tripadvisor, Coop Supercard, trilloins of benefit programs and so on. But do they have a idea about the real life out there?

Switzerland seems to be an expert country of regulations and laws for everything until it driftes to the absurdity.

Tons of signs and disclaimers are everywhere you go, from the top of a mountain to every small lane in the city, just everywhere you can find them. If they are not visible you should know. It becomes an lifestyle to spend lot of time to learn all rules and regulations about our daily life. People fears to do something against the regulations and get prosecuted, fined and punished. If you didn"t know it doesn"t protect you from geting punished is a well known saying in switzerland.

Over the years i collected pictures i took around this topic and i find it interesting to stack them up and turn it to a series which probably everybody around the world feel familiar too.

There will be a Exhibition in 2017 in which i prsent my work, i will inform about the details here soon.

Beyond the Light

Light is life and life is good. Everything can have multiple appearance depending on the light. You go somewhere and nobody recognise you, because the light. Having a nightmare and wake up, you missing the light. Struggling with your daily life, someone brings you the light. Trapped in a cave without light, you craving for it. Suffering you work, your Hobby brings the light.

Endless emotions made of light, telling the story in photographs. My camera catches the light, the dancer Kuan-Ling Tsai reflecting the lights and forming the emotions.

Taking pictures is a crime?

Since i take pictures, is most about people. My first pictures from around 1974 shows my little Brother, my family and friends. Later on around 1978 i took pictures in public places like streets, trainstations and demonstrations. My first documentary was about the "AJZ Krawalle" in Zuerich. Later 1980 the "Grundsteinlegung" of the Childrenhome in Elgg. Allwais about people, their life, their happiness, their struggles.

All those years i took a lot of pictures of people everywhere, really a lot and never someone feel ofended or bothered by me.

By the time my geological radius of action become bigger and i experienced aversions against my photography in countries like Cambodia, China, Philippines, Korea and so on. What changes that some people dislike my Camera? Thats easy to explain i was on assignment in charge of a News agency and shot spot news. Of course not everybody was happy to realize i just took a picture of him.

Now in the present time i often have to face difficulties especially in europe about pseudo privacy and other weird stuff.

Let me explain few things. The pictures i usually take are often called "Streetphotography" but i"am not a great fan of such categorizing descriptions, i took such pictures long time before everybody use this therm.

The last few years i travelled around in the USA, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, i took tons of pictures and most are about People. Never ever i had any negative discussions until i"am back to europe and guess what happened. Few days in Belgium and i had an encounter with a raging middle east guy, which yelling and gesticulates in a language which i was not familiar to. It ends up that he called the police and they appear with an translator which helps out with arabic and english. This guy insist i delete the picture which isn"t that easy if you shoot film. After approx  30 minutes of a very noisy conversation he gave up and i promised the policmen that i won"t use this particular pictures for anything. Let me tell you, i didn"t took a picture of him but his shop. Something positive? I learned what "Kaffer" means.

Not even better in Zuerich, nearly everytime i go for a photowalk i encounter troubles with agressive people which feel very ofended by my action, even if i didn"t even took a picture of them. Hard to proof if you shoot film. At the fleamarket in Zuerich Bürkliplatz an middle east guy freaked out and grab my Rolleiflex, what let me answer violently in a selfdefense manner to stop him.

What is wrong in our european society, is taking pictures a crime? Europe quo vadis?

Btw. If someone ask me kindly not to take a photograph, i will respect that.

 

 

Goodbye Nikon Collection

Ja es ist wahr, ich löse meine gesamte Nikon Sammlung auf. Der Entscheid steht schon eine ganze Weile aber der Startschuss dazu ist gestern gefallen wo auch prompt ein paar coole Leute vorbei kamen und so einiges kauften.

Hauptsächlich wird es Nikon Kameras, Objektive und viel Zubehör sein, das verkauft wird. Aber auch Exakta, Leica werden dabei sein.
Sämtliche Kameras sind Servicegepflegt und die meisten wurden generalüberholt oder mindestens ein CLA (Clean, Lubricated, Adjust) gemacht. Das bedeutet kurzum, alle meine Kameras plus Zubehör sind in einem funktionsfähigen top Zustand.

Ebenfalls werden diverse Studioausrüstungsgegenstände zu kaufen sein. Profoto Generatoren, Giant Schirm und vieles mehr.

Die gute Frage wann und wo? Am Sonntag den 25.9.2016 ab 09:99 Uhr Morgens bis ca. 16.00 Uhr werde ich am Fotoflohmarkt in Lichtensteig an zu treffen sein. Stand Nr. 212 in der kleinen Halle drinnen.

Ob für den passionierten Sammler oder den Analog Fan, gibt es hoch spannende Kameras zu Kaufen.

Kreditkarten sind bei mir ebenfalls willkommen.

Am kommenden Sonntag den 25.9.2016 werde ich zum ersten mal nicht als Besucher vor Ort sein, sondern mit einem Tisch volle Equipment zum Verkauf.Vieles was sich im Kameraschrank und im Studio angesammelt hat muss raus. Geräte und Zubehör von Profoto, Arri, Manfrotto, Zacuto, Redrock, Ninja und noch so vieles mehr.

Das was die meisten nie für Möglich hielten, ich löse meine Kamerasammlung auf. Da gibt es top Nikons die Geschichte rauf und runter. Von Nikon S über die legendäre F bis zur D4 gibt es jede Menge Bodies und Objektive.

Kommt vorbei stöbert und kauf mir meinen Tisch leer. :-)

Time is value?

At some level, we all have an internal gauge for how much our time is worth. For example, if someone offers to pay you CHF 0,50 for one hour of work, you would immediately decline. Meanwhile, if someone offers to pay you CHF 3'000.- for one hour of work, you would immediately accept.
On extreme ends of the spectrum, it is easy to know if a task is worth your time. As you move toward the middle of the time-value spectrum, however, it becomes less clear if a particular task is worth your time or not. And this is the problem: most of life is lived in the gray zone of the time-value spectrum.

Happiness

Happiness is not measurable or tradable, nor profitable. Above anything else in this world, it is what everywhere people seeking for. They want to have happiness and want to make sure they have a lot of it. But exactely this happiness, is like air or like water, it"s a hard thing to grasp in one’s hand. It is absolutely intangible. So how does one know if they have happiness? Is it just a feeling? If someone does not feel happy, how can they go about achieving that feeling?

Being happy with who you are and what you have, is a decision that has to be consciously made. Goals can help lead to happiness. Finding laughter in life is important. But at the end of the day, a person needs to make a choice about happiness. They need to agree they want it, deserve it, and have it. Alone and simply himself, no one can really bring you happiness, create memorable moments in your life is a secret to happiness.

Cold chain?

Here in Europe we allways hear that the smallest interruption of the cool chain can lead to a substantial deterioration in quality or even to the complete spoilage of the product. But i ask myself since years, why not in Asia?

As i found in Hong Kong as well as in Taiwan, they often leave the meat hanging or presenting on a wooden table for hours. The outside teperatures are more tha 35 degrees celsius (95F). This happens 35 years ago and still now.
Are the western countries too regulated or over sensitive?

Sind so weit von meinem Kopf entfernt.
Ich denke, sie sind die glücklichsten Teile meines Körpers.
Manchmal werden sie gestochen, eingeklemmt oder gar geschnitten, trotzdem versuchen sie stehts, mich Aufrecht zu halten. Sie tragen mich wohin ich will, immer und jederzeit.
Wenn ich sie der fehlenden Schönheit wegen hasse, sie sind immer ein Teil von mir.

我的腳離我的頭這麼遠。我想，他們是我身體最快樂的部位。
有時，他們被刺被夾，或甚至被切，他們仍試著頂住，保我直立。無論我想去哪裡，他們總是承載著我。

Can you imagine to be on an small Island with a small town, lots of interesting stuff, restaurants and just few heads living there. Stay in an apartement heading a bay, watch to the sea and enjoy the silence? Yes such a scene just happens last weekend on Peng Chau Island.
Jing Pang, Siu Ding 小丁 and me spend a weekend there and experienced the unleashed creative craziness of cameratastic moments. Creative in sense of pictures, yess tons of pictures and more.. soon...

Lost in spaces?

Spaces for living in endless deserts of concrete and glass. An great forrest of buildings seems to reach the sky, pulsing with life, steady from the look.
How many children grew? How many people marry? How many divorce? How many got old? How many died? How many lost dreams? How many lost hope? This, are the wheel of life, constantly turning around in the squares of those spaces made of concrete and glass.

Hong Kong 2016 - night stroll with Lin Lin

Near midnight we stroll around, looking for interesting lights. Lumen for photographs, dont know what to shoot. Too many impressions. She is a ballerina, a dancer, a ballett teacher in Hong Kong. I love to work with dancer. Dancer have a great sense of expressions. 

We found a cool bar in a strange sidelane, Lin Lin did not bellieve me, there is a something. She was scared to enter the dark sidelane into the no where. But after few steps we saw the light, the tiny bar in the nowhere of Tsim Sha Tsui....

We found light, lot of diffuse lights, bright lights and no lights.. Lin Lin uses her mobilephone as a lightsource and i love the result.

香港當代攝影展｜Hong Kong Contemporary Photography Exhibition

Die Vernissage der ersten 香港當代攝影展2016｜Hong Kong Contemporary Photography Exhibition 2016 war gut besucht. Die Ausstellung widmet sich ganz der zeitgenössichen Fotografie von Hong Kong. Sie versammelt Bildprojekte von heimischen Fotografen neben solchen auswärtiger Künstler, die die Stadt besucht haben, um in ihr zu arbeiten - oder die geblieben sind und hier sesshaft geworden sind. Denn Hong Kong ist, wovon Fotografen träumen.


Ganz besonders gut gefallen haben mir die Arbeiten der drei Fotokünstler Jonathan van Smit, Peter Steinhauer sowie Benny Lam. Die Ausstellung ist im kleinen Rahmen aber verspricht viel für die Zukunft.

Relaunch my Blog

After years of my old blog full of technical stuff, it's time to relaunch a new one. From now no much technology but Art, Poetry, Philosophy and other boring brainfood. The old blog will frozen and somewhen in future someone maybe me will delete it...

Bei der  "photo basel" handelt es sich um eine kleine Fachausstellung die sie als reine Gallerieausstellung versteht. In der zweiten Ausgabe können die Veranstalter bereits auf eine beachtliche Zahl an Aussteller verweisen. Die Werke verschiedenster Fotografen aus aller Welt waren zu sehen. Eine Ausstellung die ich weiterhin im Auge behalten werde.

ART Basel 2016

ART Walk in Basel

After a new complicated Accreditation procedure, i finally got my Media Batch, which allows me also taking Pictures all around.

Together with my Artis friends we explored the whole exibition and found this and that. It is allways very inspiring to walk around on such huge ART Exibitions, because you can find cool stuff, think a lot and become peaceful happy after a tough day.

Am 18. und 19. Juni 2016 findet in Weinfelden die grösste Fotomesse der Ostschweiz statt.

Bei uns dreht sich 2 Tage lang alles rund um die Fotografie.

Am 18. Juni starten wir mit einer Bilderausstellung von Fotografen aus der ganzen Schweiz und dem angrenzenden Ausland. Es werden Werke aus diversen Sparten gezeigt. Für das kulinarische Wohl der Gäste sorgt Michis Cüpli- und
Grillbar!

Am 19. Juni startet die Fotomesse unter anderem mit dem altbekannten Fotoflohmarkt der Schweiz.

Neben 3 Vorführungen von CALVIN HOLLYWOOD und 2 Vorträge von Photomundo könnt Ihr bei NIKON die neusten Kameras ausleihen und an den Messemodellen testen.

Vorbereitungen im vollen Gange

Die Vorbereitungen zur kommenden Fotoausstellung in Weinfelden ist in vollem Gange. Die Grossen schwarz/weiss Prints werden geramt und beschriftet. Präsentiert werden sie auf kleinen Ministaffeleien. Alles in Allem vom Print bis zur Präsentation jede Menge Arbeit, aber es wird sich lohnen. Überzeugen Sie sich selbst und kommen Sie vorbei! Photo Days 2016 in Weinfelden am 18.6.2016

Art Basel 2016

Eine Art obligatorischer Besuch, die Art Basel.

Zum erstenmal seit Jahren war ich Privat an der Art Basel, das heisst dieses mal nicht für eine Zeitung oder ein Magazin. So konnte ich die gesammte Ausstellung besser besichtigen und hatte auch Zeit den einen oder anderen Kontakt wiedereinmal aufzufrischen oder auch neu zu knüpfen. Wie immer ist die Art Basel beinahe unüberschaubar gross und bietet für beinahe jeden Kunstgeschmack eine reiche Auswahl.

Über Kunst und deren Details möchte ich hier nicht eingehen sondern empfehle jedem Kunstinteressierten die Art Basel selbst zu besuchen.
